Editorial Standards & Policies
Last updated: November 2026. How Funder Intel reports the news, uses AI tools, corrects mistakes and keeps advertising separate from editorial content.
1. Who we are
Funder Intel is a media and market intelligence company covering business lending, alternative business finance, commercial finance and fintech. Our readers are business loan brokers, funders, lenders, fintech companies and the professionals who serve them.
Shane Mahabir, President and Founder, is the editor responsible for everything we publish.
2. Bylines
Analysis, features and exclusive reporting written by our founder carry the byline “By Shane Mahabir.”
News briefs, data roundups and other reports produced by our editorial team carry the byline “Funder Intel Newsroom.” These stories are reviewed and approved by our editor before they are published.
Guest columns are published under the writer’s own name and labeled as guest contributions. The views of guest writers are their own.
3. Accuracy and sourcing
We work from primary sources wherever we can: court filings, regulator and agency releases, SEC filings, company statements and official data. We link to our sources so readers can check them, and we credit other publications when we rely on their reporting.
Figures, names, dates and quotes are checked against the source before publication.
4. How we use AI tools
We use AI tools to help with research, summarizing long documents, drafting and producing graphics. AI tools do not decide what we cover or publish.
Every story is reviewed, fact-checked and edited by a person before it is published, and our editor is responsible for its accuracy. Where AI tools played a significant role in producing a story, we say so in the story.
Illustrations and cover images may be created with AI or design tools. We do not present them as photographs of real people or events.
5. Independence from advertisers
Advertisers, sponsors and directory members do not review or approve our coverage before it is published, and paying for advertising does not buy favorable coverage. We report on companies that advertise with us the same way we report on everyone else.
6. Advertising, sponsored and partner content
Display ads on our site are labeled “Advertisement.” Paid placements in our directories are labeled “Featured” or “Pro.”
Some articles include affiliate links, which means Funder Intel may earn a commission if you sign up for a product through them. These articles are labeled “Partner content” and carry a disclosure at the top.
Sponsored articles paid for by a company are clearly labeled as sponsored.
7. Legal cases and allegations
When we report on lawsuits, criminal charges and regulatory actions, we describe claims as allegations unless a court or agency has made a finding. People charged with crimes are presumed innocent unless proven guilty. When a case is resolved or dismissed, we update our coverage once we learn the outcome.
8. Corrections and updates
We correct errors promptly. When we fix a factual error, we add a note to the article explaining what was changed and when. Minor fixes such as spelling or formatting are made without a note.
To report an error, email info@funderintel.com with “Correction” in the subject line and a link to the article.
